• Allan Sents (Board Member)

    Allan Sents lives in McPherson, Kansas, with his wife Deanna. They have four children and 11 grandchildren. Allan is now retired, but for 36 years he and Deanna owned and operated a 13,000-head-capacity, cattle feed-yard. A passion for mission started with week-long, service-oriented trips while still in high school. As an adult he’s had the opportunity to travel to Ethiopia seven times to work with John and Gwen Haspels in the mission field. Additionally, his family has participated in over a dozen domestic trips with their local church involving hurricane cleanup and other service projects. Allan and Deanna are currently members of Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson, Kansas, a member of the Evangelical Covenant denomination.

  • Rob Von Schimmelmann (Board Member)

    Rob Von Schimmelmann is a businessman with a focus on making people successful within whichever field they work. He earned his bachelors of science in Management of Information Systems from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. When not working, he loves the outdoors and spending time with his wife Larisa, whom he met in Ethiopia while both were on mission trips, and his four boys. He is a firm believer in the power and the paramount importance of the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations and to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He strives to live out his faith visibly so others will learn of God's love.

  • Evan Miles (Board Member)

    Evan Miles came to know Jesus when he was 14 years old and was baptized shortly after at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana, California. He has a passion to see people walk with Jesus and longs to see God transform the lives of the Tirmaga-Chai and Baale peoples in Southwest Ethiopia. He has worked for the past 15 years at non-profit, private and public organizations with the purpose of developing new facilities and residential communities that revitalize distressed neighborhoods. This has included the creation of affordable homes and facilities serving people coming out of homelessness. He and his wife Stephanie have three children and live in Southern California.

  • Habtom and Heather Kebede (Missionaries)

    Habtom and Heather Kebede are serving as missionaries in Ethiopia and have a passion to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through building relationships and addressing the needs of communities and individuals. Habtom was born and raised in Ethiopia. Heather was born in Kenya and raised in Kenya, Sudan and Ethiopia as a child of missionaries. They met while serving through a volleyball outreach in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that Habtom helped to start. The Kebedes married in November 2010 and have four children: Faith, Hope, Josiah and Kaleb. For the last 13 years, Habtom and Heather have been using sports and educational games to share the love of Jesus with underprivileged youth and young adults in Ethiopia. Recently, God has put a new vision in their hearts to work with people in Southwestern Ethiopia in a church-based ministry called Outstretched Hands. Outstretched Hands will work alongside Suri Outreach, West Gambella Synod, a local translation team (Wycliffe Ethiopia) and the Bethel Synod Coordinating Office in this new endeavor.

  • John Dyuni

    John is a passionate believer from Southern Sudan who now lives in Southwest Ethiopia. He has long had a desire to see the Bible translated into his own language. He is head of the translation team in Koyi/Asirahulet and was instrumental in acquiring land for the church in Koyi/Asirahulet. He continues to be a leader and the main contact person for the Outstretched Hands Ministry in that area. He also helps oversee a variety of community focused activities going on in Koyi/Asirahulet.
