Location

Koyi/Asirahulet is located in Southwestern Ethiopia near the border with South Sudan. Dima refugee camp is located twelve kilometers from the church built in Asirahulet. Koyi is not far from Asirahulet and is a small settlement of different tribal groups.

History

Koyi/Asirahulet is home to a number of different tribes. The majority of people are those displaced from other areas due to violence. Suri Outreach, which has worked among the Suri people for over twenty years by sharing the gospel through a development project, began helping some people in this location. A large number of Suri people have moved to this location after their homes, crops and church were destroyed.

The Why?

Through communication with different individuals, the many needs of this community were made known to the Suri Outreach leaders and the Kebedes. God began to open doors through the help of local leaders for a church to be built and a church-based ministry to begin that would address the many needs of this community. God revealed His great love and desire for the lost, broken and hurting in Koyi/Asirahulet to have a life-changing relationship with Jesus.
